There is no warrenty and I take no responsibility for anything that might
happen as a result of using this program. Ok, so now that I've got that out
of the way, I'm pretty sure that it won't harm your computer or disk drives
in any way. To be sure, back up your Qecho.ctl file(s) before using it.
Qecho Manager is the first attempt at making Qecho a little more friendly to
the new sysop and also to help you maintain/edit your control files. Que_Echo
is used for your qecho.ctl files. Area_bbs is used for your areas.bbs files.
Running Que_echo
To run the program, type Que_echo at the DOS prompt. That's it. When you
first start up, it will ask for your net/node number. It won't let you go
an further until you supply it.
Running Area_bbs
To run the program, type Area_bbs at the DOS prompt. That's it.
Limitations.
It only handles 10 qecho.ctl or areas.bbs files (I may up it to 15 if someone
wants it).
It only handles up to 60 packer statments. I really don't see for any more
than that and Qecho 2.75 will have a default statement so there should be
no reason in the future to have a lot of statements.
It doesn't support arc/unarc. That's what the packer statement's for. Maybe
I'm being a little bold but...
It doesn't support Qecho 2.75 but will soon.
Features, etc.
You can navigate through the menus using the up, down, home, end, page up and
page down keys. When editing a field, you can use the insert and delete keys
(as well as home and end). There are help screens that describe the qecho.ctl
and areas.bbs statements.
I tried to make it as simple to use as possible and so this is about it for
documents. If you really need more documents, please let me know and I'll
whip up more detailed instructions.
Future plans
1 - Adding Qecho 2.75 support.
2 - Bug fixes.
3 - Streamlining of the code.
4 - Whatever features that people want.
5 - Default packer statements for the new user sysops.
New in 1.1
1) Changed name of Qe_man to Que_echo.
2) Fixed redimensioning bug (Jeez).
3) Fixed input bug.
4) Program now uses old value to edit (was blanked out before).
5) Made it (hopefully) mono/color compatible.
6) Streamlined the code a bit.
7) Finished up Area_bbs.
8) Area_bbs strips away leading 0's (Caused problems with board numbers).
Bug Reports.
Send any bug reports to the address listed below. Please list the bug in
detail. I'll work on it as soon as I get it, but I won't release the fix
right away (unless of course, it coincides).
Registration.
If you like the program, please send me at least $5 and I'll be happy. If
enough people register, I'll release v1.2 which will work with Qecho 2.75.
I think $5 is a more than reasonable rate. Make checks/money orders payable
to Edward L. Grinnell and send any payments to -
